PITCH DAY

We welcome applications from innovative B2C start-ups whose products or services are already successfully positioned on the market. The prize features an extensive media and service package: €3 million in TV advertising and €30,000 for the production of a TV spot.

To inspire and revitalize startup creativity in the midwest, we will bring together local entrepreneurs and top tier investors for a Startup Pitch Day at the Jefferson Forge in rural Iowa. The winner will receive an equity-free cash grant of $25k.

 

Eligibility

We welcome applications from innovative B2C start-ups whose products or services are already successfully positioned on the market. The prize features an extensive media and service package: €3 million in TV advertising and €30,000 for the production of a TV spot.

-innovative B2B or B2C technology focused companies

-raised less than $1m

-clear definition of problem being solved

-must have prototype of product

-scalable business model

-be able to articulate the additional resources you’ll need to hit your next milestone

-founded in the midwest

Please submit your application by September 20, 5pm PT. Judges will then choose four finalists to present in person at the Jefferson Forge Tech Center on October 8. Finalists will be notified on September 30.

Ben Milne is the founder and CEO of Dwolla, a new kind of payment network that allows anything connected to the Internet to move money quickly, safely, and at a cost as low as possible. Under Milne, the Des Moines-based company has raised over $32 million from investors, like Andreessen Horowitz, Union Square Ventures, and most recently, CME Group. Dwolla has been named by Fast Company as one of the world’s “50 Most Innovative Companies.”

Greg sands

An early stage investor for over 20 years, Greg helps startups analyze and interpret early signals to identify and leverage the most valuable aspects of their solution. Prior to founding Costanoa, Greg was a Managing Director at Sutter Hill focusing on early stage, enterprise technology investments, including Merced Systems, AllBusiness, Quinstreet, Feedburner and Youku. Before Sutter Hill, Greg was the first hire at Netscape Communications after its founding engineering team. He was its first Product Manager, wrote the initial business plan, coined the name Netscape, and created the SuiteSpot Business Unit, which he grew from zero to $140M in revenue.

Ryan broshar

Ryan is the Founder and Managing Partner at Matchstick Ventures. Founding Matchstick (fka Confluence Capital) in 2013, Ryan created a vehicle to support and interact with fellow entrepreneurs. Ryan is also the Founder of the Techstars Retail Accelerator and Co-Founder of Beta.MN and Twin Cities Startup Week. Prior to Matchstick, Ryan founded University Guide, LLC – a university-based publication business – that was eventually sold in 2008.
